How to Replace a Triple Coil Balance System
My door opening is 10'. I couldn't find a supplier to sell a track cover in this length. How do I join two pieces of cover together to ensure a smooth transition?
When I insert the keylock spindle and the inside latch do they butt against each other or does one ride over the other? Signec sooo confused
Good to know that this is even possible, because i've been wanting this to be installed (by a professional) in my sliding back door.
I bought 20 of these. They are awful. The door still bangs. Even in the video this guy has a rubber stopper at the bottom corner of the door when it closes. Do not buy these
... why wouldn't you use the drill on the screws? 😂
What a horrible design. You have to drill the damm thing just to get it off - And once you install the new one, its permanent, until you have to drill that one out too.
Honestly I was going to go at it with some pliers lol, I appreciate you sir!
Built our house in 1996. Thought we were getting quality windows when we went with the Andersen Narrowline Double Hung. They have been pretty awful, namely the unreliability of the balance mechanisms. They gave us problems not long after installation and have continued to fail over the years. Definitely has soured me on considering Andersen products in the future.
Great video
Do you know if there's a way to add a keyed cylinder on the other side to be able to unlock from outside?
I have this track system, but I don't have the ability to remove the front trim so easily. It is wood trim that may even be behind the other parts of the window sill - all oak. The back is also trapped in aluminum framing. Are there other options in removing and replacing, without taking all of the trim off?
Perfect! Thanks!
So helpful! Thanks!
How do u remove without damaging the wood like in the video?!?
I replaced with new weatherstrip, but they just don’t stay in place, keep sliding out when I open the window, anything I can do to keep them stay in the slot?
Is there a video for 765 series?
That method doesn't work for our style slider screen.
Can you put a Pet proof screen on this type of door with that type spline?
Thank you for the video
My track is currently damaged. Why do you have to take the other doors off?
I believe they did that to get the sliding door off. Mine the door can come off from the inside. I will be leaving the stationary door in place.
Another home owner able to figure out how to repair their windows thanks to a video on youtube. Incredibly appreciative of people and teams like yourselves who take the time to make these tutorials and publish them so that we can learn and then carry out these repairs. Thank you!
Just what I needed!
Thank you this helped me, especially, pushing the broken pivot bar into the sash.
I can’t remove the window. There is no room for that. I could change the channel balancer for my window in the previous house, but not this house. All windows are big that couldn’t be out of the frames.
That technique works but is painfully slow. All you need is a 4" putty knife, a pair of pliers and side cutters. Using the pliers, grab the pile near an edge and pull up. Once it is out of the track, pull it at the end with the pliers. It will zip right out. New one install by inserting one edge and push the other in using the putty knife. work along the length like that. Cut to size when you approach the end and snap the last bit in.
Thank you!
Wow... well done! Do you know how expensive it is to get a repairman out to do this?
Oh Andersen. What a hypocritical place to work at.
Thanks it worked
Any tips for when the latch is stuck in place and you cannot release the windows?
Wonderful video.
what a gorilla hammer and screw drivers as a punch!!!
After having no idea how to take out my windows that don’t tilt, this video finally showed me how to use these tabs! Thank you! Windows from the early 1980s, I had no idea.
This is a great video.Thank you so much.I'm working on a commercial door and this has been excellent.Very informative, very helpful.Thank you once again.Continue to keep making videos.Because there is people out hear that.Appreciate the videos.
What type of window is that? American Craftsmen? Andersen?
I finally found this video and quickly reassembled the old window, where the balances had fallen out. Thank you!
I just received them today from SWISCO and installed them, thanks a lot for your instructional video.
so the "cut out" is man made Lmao
Unfortunately, when my drawer closes, it comes face to face with the back, there is no space for the plastic base to fit and the drawer don't close firmly. Nice equipment!
Showing the mechanism inside was key! Genius!!
Quick, clear and easy! Fantastic video
Great video; I have 22 year old vinyl windows and the first one just broke...very helpful!
I'm trying to replace the whole balance, but i can't get it out. The opening is too narrow. Any suggestions?
So happy I found this video...was able to use the old spline. Thank you!
Awesome thank you soooooo much!
Is your lock universal? Will it work with Milguard window? It seems the Milguard window lock has 2 locking mechanisms. The slide portion as shown. However my broken lock will not budge as it feels like it’s locked in place
But what if your window is stuck IN the frame? I can’t even get to those parts 😩😩😩😩
I have been trying for days. These wheels do NOT snap in that easy. I've broken 2 already. Very frustrating when it's supposed to be so simple.
The .250 screen spline im using to replace the metal with is extremely difficult to get rolling
Can we add this device on any crank out window
